Bring your Mid 2018 MacBook Pro back to full functionality with this high-quality EXIN keyboard replacement. Designed exclusively for the A1989 (13″, EMC 3214) and A1990 (15″, EMC 3215) models, this keyboard uses Apple’s 3rd-generation butterfly switch mechanism with a critical design difference: each key has its own individual LED light source integrated directly beneath it.
This is fundamentally different from earlier 2016-2017 MacBook Pro keyboards (A1706, A1707), which use a shared backlight sheet. Because of this per-key LED design, the A1989/A1990 keyboard does NOT require and does NOT include a separate backlight sheet — the illumination is built into the keyboard assembly itself. This also means this keyboard is completely incompatible with 2016-2017 models, even though they look visually similar.
The 3rd-generation butterfly switches found in A1989 and A1990 feature 0.5mm key travel and ultra-low actuation, delivering the characteristic crisp, low-profile typing feel of this generation of MacBook Pro. Every EXIN unit is brand new and fully tested before dispatch, and the repair benefits from the fact that the keyboard rivets on A1989/A1990 models can be removed and replaced with screws — a cleaner repair process than earlier models that require drilling.

This keyboard is ONLY compatible with Mid 2018 A1989 and A1990 models. It does NOT fit the 2016-2017 MacBook Pro models A1706 or A1707, which use an entirely different keyboard design with a separate backlight sheet.
